here to read about their show ring accomplishments. Brenda
works with the young horses in the round pen, free lunging, ground
driving, lunging with a saddle, and giving them a good basic
foundation under saddle. Brenda
also tunes on horse for multi-purposes; from the trail-riding horse to
the Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle show horse.
Jacob and Micah handle the foals and teach them to lead, and
lunge the yearlings and 2 year olds. Sara helps to start the 2 year
olds and continues to ride some of the older horses, even while she is
away at college. Tom
works a full time job, but finds time to help with the horses,
stacking hay, at shows, and repairs. “Grand
Duke Of Asset”, the Messicks’ 1997 16.1 hand bay stallion
was bred and raised at Messick Quarter Horses.
He was started in Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle with
Brenda. Earning Hunter
Under Saddle Points in Open, and Amateur Hunter Under Saddle Points
with Sara, “Duke” is producing babies that are leggy, long
muscled, deep hocked, and with gentle dispositions, that can go either
Western or Hunter. Look
for Duke’s offspring in the show pen, lunging and riding, in 4-H and
open shows, or on the trails. Brenda
coaches youth at Quarter Horse Shows, and shows Junior Horses
in Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle. All 3 children have been
